I comprise many lives.

I am a soldier of glorious war against the enemies of Man.

I am a renegade, rallying the races in a fight against an implacable foe.

I am a miner, plying the endless expanse of space in search of profit.

I am a pilot sailing between the stars, putting my enemies to the torch.

I am a knight in service of my liege lord and king.

I am a living monument; I represent your absolute best, and your abysmal worst.

I am you.

StH:WoD Blog Three - UEF Roll Call

Mon May 25, 2015, 6:12 AM
The United Eurish Federation exists in a "Near-Earth" that we know as Mobius. For the purposes of worldbuilding, the UEF is essentially the European Union. Almost all other nations are represented, though some city-states are not in the correct geographical location corresponding to their cultural makeup. It should be mentioned that the human city-states are the smallest in size, but are also the most technologically advanced, where the Overlander and Mobian nations vary in their development.

Empire City (Culturally England, located at Orleans)
Central City (Culturally Germany, located at Berlin)
Apotos (Culturally Greece, located at Athens)
Spagonia (Culturally Italy, located at Florence)
The Principality of Soleanna (Culturally United Kingdom of the Netherlands, located at Amsterdam)

To align with the games / comics, the following cities are added:
Station Square (Culturally America, located in Western Eurish)
Chun-Nan (Culturally China, located in Western Eurashia)
Mazuri (Culturally Africa, located in Northern Efrika)

And to compensate for the scope of the EU (with respect to the primary city-state members), various Mobian and Overlander nations are established as Dependencies and Protectorate Nations:
The Kingdom of the Baltics (Culturally Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, located in Northern Eurish)
The Commonwealth of Both Nations (Culturally Poland / Lithuania, located in Eastern Eurish)
The Hanseatic League (Culturally Germany, located in Northern Eurish)
The Iberian Union (Culturally Spain / Portugal, located in Western Eurish)
The Second Republic of Orleans (Culturally France, located in Western Eurish)
The Kingdom of Two Sicilies (Culturally Italy, located in Southern Eurish)
The Republic of Venice (Culturally Italy, located in South Central Eurish)

The UEF's closest allies and treaty partners are as follows:
The Papal States (Culturally Italy / Vatican City, located in Southern Eurish)
The Kingdom of Mercia (Culturally the United Kingdom, located in Northwestern Eurish)
The Osterreich (Culturally the Austrian Empire, located in Austria)
The Courts of the Wolf (Culturally Russia, located in Northwestern Eurashia)

And that's all I've got for now. Until next time!

I have the first entry up and ready for review. I've been doing some reading and I'm thinking that a wikia might be viable, but I'll have to tweak its settings to make sure it's not being wantonly advertised all over the internet.

Mage: The Ascension is a game system that freely references to works of inspiration as examples of magickal styles. Get a book, you'll see for yourself. When I first started to look at the RPG, Equilibrium and Matrix were the movies at the forefront of my mind. I subsequently created a character that used Correspondence and Time to perform gun katas and other time / dimension bending antics. He still exists today as Aislyn Dawkins.

And so, what everyone is probably wondering is, where are the main characters going to be in all this? Well, here are some ideas:

Maurice "Sonic" the Hedgehog - Marauder, parkour messenger (Mirror's Edge inspired)
Miles "Tails" Prower - Society of Ether, kid genius
Knuckles the Echidna - Guardian of Horizon, native of the "Floating Island" Realm
Princess Sally Acorn - Sorcerer?, Pretender heir to the Kingdom of Mobotropolis
Rotor Walrus - Order of Hermes, part of Sally's coterie

Am I focusing on them? No, they will be strictly NPCs.

And that's all I have for now. time for work.

Empire City

Empire City is the capital of the Les Pays du Centre de la Loire administrative region, and the second most populous city-state in the United Eurish Federation. Empire City is located on the Loire River in western Eurish, where the river curves south towards the Massif Central. The city-state has a lateral area of 120.3 km2, with up to fifteen subterranean levels in some districts. As of January 3237, Empire City has a population of 21 million inhabitants.

Empire City was founded in 2962 M.C. as a result of the Treaty of Orléans between the inhabitants of the Empire City Bunker and the First Republic of Orléans following the toppling of the Mobian Ancien Régime three years prior. The city-state featured  prominently in the Great Revolution, a period of social and political upheaval between the royalist supporters of the Ancien Régime and the republican supporters of the First Republic of Orléans. A hundred years after its inception, Empire City was the largest city in western Eurish and a prosperous trading centre, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.

Empire City is the home for some of the most-visited art museums in the world, and boasts some of the most beautiful collections of sculpture, classical art, Impressionist art, and modern and contemporary art. The city-state also hosts notable architectural landmarks.

Empire City is known for its fashion designers and the bi-annual Fashion Week, and for its haute cuisine, and three-star restaurants. Most of the region’s major universities and elite schools are located in Empire City, as are some of the UEF's major newspapers, such as The Herald.

Technology

Empire City is considered ‘modern contemporary' with a few modifications. The history of the Empire City Bunker inhabitants made them very adept with underground excavation and thus, this has enabled Empire City to make use of underground structures to increase its habitable areas. Some of the city-state’s subterranean levels have underwater access to the river, accommodating the city-state’s aquatic Mobians, as well as the GUN Fleet.

A relaxed building height restriction has allowed skyscrapers to loom high into the sky; the largest of which, the Diderot Central Administration Hub, rises two hundred and eighty four meters above ground level. The next highest building, the Tour Flèche, is two hundred and thirty meters tall.

Empire City's electricity supply is based primarily on geothermal power; intake valves located along the river are funneled into binary cycle power stations, before being purified of waste particles and reintroduced back into the river. A hydroelectric dam further upstream provides power for the surrounding communities.

Culture

The mainstream culture of Empire City is analogous to the United Kingdom, paired with a distinct analogous French patois, both in culture and speech. Most inhabitants are bilingual. Empire City is the administrative center for the UEF's Guardian Unit of Nations: Western Fleet. In a distinct difference to the rest of the UEF, Empire City's GUN division is known as the Gibraltar Uniformed Navy, named for the military refugee group that sought refuge in the Empire City Bunker during the Cataclysm.

Empire City administration is performed from the top down by the Mayor of the city, along with his Council of advisors and district chiefs. Empire City is split up into twenty four districts, or arrondissements, and each chief is a governor in his own right, though it is the gendarmes of GUN that provide security and the enforcement of law.

Impressions

The city is very contained and keeps from sprawling over its surroundings. Farmland and rolling countryside abruptly give way to dense suburbs and apartment blocks, bounded by wide pedestrian areas and parks. The tallest buildings cluster into nodes scattered throughout the city; the largest cluster of skyscrapers can be found in the La Défense business district.

The people squeeze into compact living spaces, making cooperation and good, neighborly habits a must. Liberty, Equality and Fraternity are the ideals of brotherhood here. In contrast, open spaces and broad avenues provide the freedom of movement and personal space lacking in close tenements. Living space is also determined by personal wealth; the well-off can afford a penthouse suite, while the truly wealthy could afford a mansion.

Automobiles zoom and weave through the carriageways, but public transport is the preferred method of travel, second to mobile pedestrian scooters and bicycles. There are some supermarkets, but they generally have to do with non edible fare. By tradition, each grocery section that would normally have it's own department in a supermarket has its own store. A ground floor mercantile plan results in a casual, personal shopping experience. Open markets are the rule, not the exception. To get the really good food, open markets have the freshest selection; a citizen can browse through fruits and vegetables picked and carted in the night before, and meat is prepared on the spot by attentive butchers.

The subterranean levels are much like a repeat of the surface levels, but far less driving space. Subways dominate underground. In each arrondissement, a ground level dome provides natural illumination to the bottom subfloor. These man made chasms are used as subterranean common areas.
WoD:StH Data Entry - Empire City
This is the first data entry for the archives. It is not written "in-character" and should be considered a reference for the players to get a feel of the city and culture of the civilization. Each entry in italics is a planned link to another article in the archives. Needless to say, I have my work cut out for me.

I could also use some linguistical help here and there. Obviously, Empire City is like a semi-English enclave in the middle of a French speaking region. I'm limited only by what I know; if there are better ways to say things, I'm all for some editing.

well, we met in one of those dA chatrooms, and you liked my concept about combining Mage: the Ascension (and the rest of the World of Darkness) with the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. I followed you onto the forum you created, and then my activity got swallowed up by the college semester. I hate it when that happens.

Good to see you too! I'm seeking to restart my Sonic The Hedgehog: World of Darkness project. The bulk of it will be a massive info dump, which will probably be in wikia format.
